The carriage of dangerous goods by road commonly known as ADR requires drivers to be suitably qualified to enable them to transport goods in tankers and packaged goods.
The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations (CDG) and the European agreement (ADR) together regulate the carriage of dangerous goods by road.
As a driver of these vehicles the safety of yourself, others and the environment are extremely important. You will be given a good understanding of all aspects of the carriage of dangerous goods by road and other multimodal means of transporting dangerous goods, along with information on class-specific characteristics, packaging and emergency actions.
To gain the qualification drivers must pass either the tanks exam which will mean the driver can transport goods in road tankers and the packs’ exams in order to drive road vehicles other than tankers carrying packaged dangerous goods.
Drivers passing both exams are entitled to drive tankers and vehicles other than tankers.
The classes of dangerous goods are classes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9, Classes 1 & 7 are explosive and radioactive which require separate exams.
We offer classes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 & 9 within the ADR initial qualification along with the ADR Core element. We also offer up to 4 days of Driver CPC if you take the full initial course.
